Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market, aka The FARM, announces its annual Christmas In July event. The month-long event features family fun, nostalgia, and, of course, holiday shopping!
While the mall’s Holiday Hayloft and several vendors offer Christmas items all year long, this event not only has more vendors offering Christmas items, but the shop’s entryway will be decorated for the holiday and the store itself filled with Christmas music.
Kristi Bixby, owner of the antique mall, says, “Christmas In July has been a huge event for us the past few years. The community loves it! It’s more relaxing to shop for decorations and gifts before all the hectic holiday activities begin. And it’s fun to find unique items that aren’t at all the box stores.”
Bixby also says those traveling to the area appreciate the event too. “Collectors of Christmas items collect all year ‘round - and we collectors love to go hunting for our treasures on vacations!"
In addition to the holiday atmosphere and seasonal finds, there’s holiday entertainment during Christmas In July.
Fargo’s own Mrs. Claus will make her annual July appearance at The FARM, handing out candy canes and posing for pictures with children.
“Children really light up when they see Mrs. Claus!” says Deanna Dahlsad, the mall’s Events Coordinator. “And I think a number of parents enjoy the gentle reminder to children out of school for the Summer to behave if they want to be on the Nice List!”
Fargo’s Mrs. Claus also has a lot of fun herself. “I love heading to The FARM to look for treasures and trinkets. It's never too early to start your Christmas shopping, and it's always the right time to be in the Christmas spirit!”
In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the store’s Scavenger Hunt or "I Spy" sheets are holiday-themed for Christmas in July.
“Not only do children like the scavenger hunts, but adults do too. Couples and groups of friends will compete for bragging rights to see who can complete the sheets first. It’s a lot of fun!” says Bixby.
“Sometimes people are more than a little surprised to walk in and discover Christmas is happening in the mall in July. Maybe they think we’re a little nuts,” laughs Dahlsad, “but in no time they’re enjoying the music, feeling nostalgic for happy holiday times, and sharing their stories of elves on shelves and grandma’s ornaments.”
Christmas In July at The FARM runs the entire month of July. Fargo’s Mrs. Claus will be at the antique mall on Saturday, July 15th, from 11 am until 3 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
Please Note: In preparation for this event (and some deep cleaning), the mall will close early on Thursday, June 29th, at 4 pm and remain closed all day Friday, June 30th.
Here are the dates for our annual Holiday Open House at Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market!
Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market, aka The FARM, mixes the past with the future this Halloween season by offering live tarot readings at the antique mall!
Along with the usual antique, vintage, & historical items, there will be more unusual finds, including handmade scented “Horror Film” candles, rare Halloween blow mold figures, uranium glass, vintage x-rays, and other hard-to-find oddities. And the Holiday Hayloft will be open too.
he Farm will mix the past with the future too by offering live tarot card readings from local expert Bonnie Bee. Bonnie Bee is an intuitive tarot card reader with over 40 years of experience. Her clairsentient ability was passed down to her through her mother, who was also a tarot card reader. A five-card tarot spread reading with Bonnie Bee will be just $10.
The Halloween festivities begin on October 21st, Thursday night, at 5:30 pm, with a special seasonal shopping atmosphere created with special lighting.
Kristi Bixby, the owner of the antique mall, says, “When the overhead lights are off in the building, the antique mall has an almost magical ambiance from the glow of lights in the individual booths. Halloween season is the perfect time to showcase such a mood."
On Saturday, October 23rd, Bonnie Bee will return to offer more tarot readings from noon until 4 pm.
We hope you'll stop in for a spell!
Things are a little different this year - but we are still going to have our annual holiday event at Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market!
As we noted on social media, the first of this month was Spunky Old Broads Day - and it ushered in Spunky Old Broads Month.
In case you didn’t know, Spunky Old Broads Day was started by Dr. Gayle Carson in 2002. “I started it because I found that once a woman hit 50, she was almost invisible and as a woman who keeps reinventing herself and is very active in business, media, etc, I wanted to acknowledge that is not the truth.” And, in case you are wondering, old age is not a requirement in being an SOB. “Generally for women, it means Spunky, Open, and Brave. I think that says it all.”
That may say it all, but that’s still a lot of territory to cover! And so Dr. Carson expanded the entire month of February into Spunky Old Broads Month, including selecting a Spunky Old Broad of the Year. Past winners have included Robin Roberts, Cloris Leachman, Dolly Parton, and Helen Mirren. Other names that leap to mind are Katharine Hepburn, Frida Kahlo, Michelle Obama, Bette Davis, Lena Horne, Iris Apfel - and The Golden Girls! (Watch for some of them to appear on our social media! Twitter | Instagram | Facebook | Pinterest)
We wanted to celebrate Spunky Old Broads - as well as those who support Spunky, Open, and Brave women - with an event. A Bring-A-Friend event. It’s simple: bring a friend into Farm from February 17 through the 21st and each of you can enter our drawing!
The prize is a $20 mall gift certificate and a gift certificate for an hour of ax throwing at Triple Ax ($20 value) - for each of you!
Bring three friends? You get your name entered three times (each of your friends are entered once). More friends, more chances to win!
As we are celebrating Spunk Old Broads; Spunky, Open, and Brave women; those aspiring to be so; and those who support them, this drawing is open to anyone who brings in a friend.
PS More events coming this month! Including another Trash or Treasure appraisal event on the 29th. Keep an eye on our blog, follow us on social media, & join our newsletter so you don’t miss any news!
Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market's Annual Holiday Sale is all set for December 14 & 15 this year!
In keeping with our tradition, we will have a store-wide sale along with cookies, coffee, & hot cider.
The hourly prize drawings went over so well at our open house that we just have to continue them too!
Saturday, December 14: 10 am to 7 pm
Sunday, December 15: Noon to 6 pm
We look forward to celebrating with you!
So, let’s say you are shopping for vintage Christmas decorations here at the Farm. (Good on you!) Along the way, you spot something (or a dozen somethings) that you’d like to receive as a holiday gift. (We’re not judging, honest - we just know how easily this happens!)
If you’re browsing at a big box store or any local shop in your community which stocks national brands and inventory based on barcodes & SKUs, you can readily add any items to your wishlist app or gift registry service. But most gift registry and wish list apps are not set up to accommodate antique malls, indie shops, vintage boutiques - any real-world, brick & mortar shops which, like our shop, offer very special, hand-curated, hand-made, unusual, and other one-of-a-kind items. (All of which, by the way, are reasons the Farm is such a popular gift destination place in Fargo-Moorhead!)
As long-time shoppers ourselves, we here at Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market are aware of these difficulties. (Hey, we were shoppers, gift-givers, and gift-receivers long before we were creators, curators, and sellers!) So we shopped around, tested a number of gift registry and wishlist apps, and found one which was head & shoulders above the rest: My Registry.
My Registry will most definitely work with the big stores - but it also will work for you when you are shopping at the Farm. You simply open the app, take a photo of the item & enter details, such as listing Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market as the location, the booth number and dealer code, and item price. Don’t worry; if you forget something, you can easily add to or edit the item info at any time.
As a bonus, even if the item on your wishlist has been sold, the photo will help our friendly staff direct the gift-givers to a similar item!
If you need any assistance, ask us! We’re here to help! Also, My Registry concierge service is available through live chat, phone, and email, seven days a week!
Now, with the My Registry app, you can easily add items from the Farm to a wish list or gift registry you can share with family & friends!
