3/26/2020 0 Comments Is The Antique Mall Open? With heavy hearts and an assortment of other feelings, The FARM announces that we are temporarily closing our store to the general public through April 6th. Like so many other businesses, we have to do what is best for our friends, our vendors, and our community.
For those of you who do feel up to going out & about, we currently remain open by appointment. Call the store at 701.356.9199. We sincerely thank all of you for your concern for our small business and the numerous self-employed vendors that make Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market the great place that it is. We are doing everything we can to stay strong and be here, be an active part of our community, for years to come. To stay informed, and remain in contact, be sure to watch our website & social media. Meanwhile, we can always “see” each other in our new Farm Friends Facebook group!

3/12/2020 0 Comments Bursting With Pride! In early February, The FARM was notified by The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce that the mall owner, Kristi Bixby, had been nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year in the 2020 ChamberChoice Awards!
Monday, we were informed that candidate lists had been finalized - and Kristi is on it! We are all so proud of Kristi for achieving this honor, and we know she is deserving! Our fingers are crossed the Chamber committee agrees! This time of year, we are all overdue for a little fun. While we consider the shop highly entertaining, we thought we should take things up a notch or two and have an especially fun and free event at The FARM for the Fargo-Moorhead community. This Saturday, March 7th, The FARM will be hosting a Cabin Fever event designed to chase away the seasonal blues. Our event will feature free cider tasting from Wild Terra, North Dakota's first urban cidery and cider bar! And if you like what you try, you can purchase more, because Wild Terra will be on-hand to sell some of their favorite ciders too! Ross Grothmann, of Big Beard Antiques, one of our vendors, is also a big fan of Wild Terra. “It’s great to have fresh options in Fargo that give you the experience of something unique, something hand-crafted, and at the same time something of our shared history. Wild Terra’s offerings and atmosphere are a fresh take on a fun place to go and a great experience. One of the things that I love about what they do so well is create a vibrant space where it’s easy to enjoy good company, good food and great cider. I recommend checking them out, and I’m excited they are partnering with us for this event.” But wait, there’s more! There are a lot of great things to pair with hard cider, but what could be better than free live music! Our Cabin Fever event will feature live music from Fargo’s own Kwaician and Darin Loven, of Smith & Loven Six String Circus! Kwaician, Darin Loven, and other local acoustic musicians will be performing at The FARM in support of Excite Music, a non-profit organization based in Fargo, North Dakota that helps children in the F-M and West Fargo community gain access to music.
With their encouragement and financial help, more of our area kids have access to instruments, lessons, and mentorship they otherwise wouldn’t have. It’s important to have fun - but we can do good too! Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market’s Cabin Fever Fix event is on Saturday, March 7, 2020. It starts at noon and runs until 6 pm. Don’t miss this fun & free FM community event! Did we mention this is a free event? ;) 2/17/2020 0 Comments Once Upon A Time… At Farm! This week, along with celebrating Spunky Old Broads and their friends, we are celebrating the delight and history of fairy tales! While National Tell A Fairy Tale Day is officially February 26th, we know that folks need to get the books first, right? Right! So all our vendors are filling their booths, cases, and the shop’s entryway with antique and vintage fairy tale books - and more! Along with vintage children's books, little kids’ chairs, nursery rhyme decor, fantasy prints, and related collectibles, we will have vintage quilts, toys, and anything else you might need for a snuggly storytime with your little prince or princess - just add grandparents or other storyteller! (Keep an eye on our social media, because you know we will be showing off some spectacular images and items!) The popularity of fairy tales is only increasing. "By their very nature, fairytales are meant to be retold and reinterpreted," says author Lincoln Michel. Maria Tatar, Professor of Folklore and Mythology and Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, says that "after the great migration of oral storytelling practices from the communal hearth to the nursery, when folklore and myth have been repurposed as bedtime reading, fairy tales are beginning to captivate us anew. Multi-generational, as well as multicultural, fairy tales get us talking." This Once Upon A Time Tell A Fairy Tale book event is really special to us. On a daily basis parents and grandparents come into the shop looking for that favorite childhood book they can now share with or gift to the special children in their lives. For many, that love of a childhood book began in childhood with parents reading their favorite stories to them. Those stories remain with us as adults, we reminisce about them, share them with the children in our lives -- and they become a generational shared experience. It may even become a book collection. Fargo Antiques & Repurposed Market is so happy to be a part of this whole experience! We are happier still to announce our really big Tell A Fairy Tale event: Hosting A Children’s Book Signing Event In Fargo! Our big event will be Saturday, February 22nd, from noon - 4pm, when we have four local North Dakota children’s book authors live at the shop!
These four amazing authors will be live at the shop to meet fans and sign their books: Sawyer Anderson, author of Water Works Tory Christie, author of A Tiny Brown Monkey On The Big Blue Earth Z.E. Duval, author of the Ren and Marie series Deirdre A Prischmann, author of No Hugs! Who knows, these books might be the very titles children’s book collectors and new parents are searching for decades from now! So be sure to get your signed copies! Keep an eye on our social media for more info & updates on the authors - and, of course, be sure to stop into the shop on Saturday! |
